This is a hardwired ceiling fixture and needs an existing ceiling box; have an electrician hang it if that is not work you do. The base is black — against a white ceiling that is a visible dark disc, which is a choice, not an oversight. No bulb is included, and a warm 2700 K LED shows the banding best. Bamboo is a dry-room material, so keep it out of bathrooms and away from steam. The weave varies slightly from the photographs.
